Invitation Message from Conference Chair
Dear Colleagues and Friends:
On behalf of the organizing committee, it is my great pleasure and honor to invite all of you to the 3rd International Water Industry Conference 2017, which will be held in Gyeongju, Korea from 19-22 September 2017.
The Daegu-Gyeongbuk regions suffered from water contamination during the modern industrialization period (from 1960s through 1990s) of the Korean history because large industrial complexes had been built along the Nakdong River, which is the main water source of approximately 10 million people living in the southeastern part of Korea, including Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. Due to these issues, the local and central governments have made many efforts on sustainable supply of clean and safe water while developing appropriate and/or innovative water technologies. Currently the Korean government is building a National Water Industry Cluster center in Daegu to share all the wisdom earned together and resolve such water issues not only for Korea, but also for developing countries and other corners of the globe in need. This conference will be a forum to help water professionals, such as scholars, researchers, engineers, and policy makers, get together and discuss smart and wise solutions on water sustainability for both current and next generations. Therefore, I would like you to take part in this important meeting and share your experiences with many other water professionals while building close friendships with them.
Gyeongju was the capital of the ancient Silla kingdom (57 BC through 935 AD) in the Korean history, which was one of the longest sustained dynasties in the world, and is listed as World Heritage by the UNESCO. I believe you will experience and enjoy cultural legacies and inheritance preserved until now, along with the beauty of colorful autumn of Korea in this September. I hope to see you all in Gyeongju.
